In the News | CA Opens The Refuge

ICYMI

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Christ Academy opened The Refuge, a newly transformed space on our campus that serves as a dedicated police substation for local law enforcement officers.

Thoughtfully designed to be a welcoming place for officers to rest and recharge while on duty, The Refuge was inspired by Psalm 46:1, created to bless our local law enforcement with a space of peace and security.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
— Psalm 46:1

The grand opening of The Refuge was well-attended by local law enforcement officers, city officials, and school administrators, who toured the facility and enjoyed lunch together. The repurposed space offers a comfortable sofa, a dining and conference table, a private restroom, a workspace, and a fully stocked refrigerator and coffee station. Law enforcement can now utilize the substation 24/7, thanks to a private entrance allowing for flexible access.

In an effort to show our continued appreciation, we will be involving our students in a meaningful way. Classes will take turns restocking The Refuge, providing snacks, beverages, and other essentials. Additionally, students will regularly create drawings and write letters of gratitude to our officers, allowing them to express their thanks and uplift our local first responders.

It was a joy to bless them with this space! We can't wait for more to come enjoy The Refuge and feel the appreciation of our community.
