Spring VPA Academy Recital

VPA recitals are back!

Our Visual and Performing Art Academy was not immune to the effects of Covid, but thankfully, it’s continued to thrive. We’ve continued to offer piano and guitar lessons, and this past week, we brought back our end-of-semester recital, showcasing our students’ learning.

Our instructors work with students individually or in group lessons once a week for the semester, during their school day, a unique opportunity we provide at Christ Academy. Mrs. Mikalunas and Mrs. Hoover have been our long-time instructors over the years, and we are grateful for all the knowledge they bring to the program.

Playing an instrument helps to improve memory, attention, speech, language, spacial and math skills, and even the ability to vocally convey emotions. We at Christ Academy are so happy to be rebuilding our VPA Academy, which came to a slow crawl along with the rest of the world a couple of years ago.
— Dawn Carpenter, Director of VPA Academies

We are now offering percussion to students in grades 1-12, as well as expanding our piano lessons to Early Childhood and Kindergarten students with a new instructor, Mrs. Hargis. We are excited to see how the program develops in the years to come.
